Notice of Data Security Incident
The National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork, Inc. (NCBTMB) is notifying individuals of a data security incident that may have impacted their personal information. We take the privacy and security of all information seriously, and sincerely apologizes for any concern or inconvenience this incident may cause impacted individuals.
What happened?
On July 21, 2024, the National Certification Board identified suspicious activity on its IT systems. We immediately implemented our incident response protocols and began an internal investigation. The investigation revealed there may have been unauthorized access to some systems which stored documents that may contain personal information of individuals if they provided it to us. We have no indication that any information was misused, but wanted to inform individuals of this incident.
What information was involved?
Personal information stored on our systems may include information you provided for licensing, certification or approved provider purposes, such as names, addresses, birth dates and social security numbers.
What the National Certification Board is doing and what you can do:
We have taken steps to prevent a similar incident from happening in the future. Since the incident, we performed a global password reset and implemented additional security controls. We also notified and are cooperating with law enforcement.
Impacted individuals should review credit reports, bank accounts and other financial statements, and immediately contact their financial institution if they identify suspicious activity.
